Snow, Sweet Snow

It's been really cold here! The good news about the cold temperature - it allows the ski resorts to make lots of really nice snow. Mother Nature is helping a little with a brush by storm on Saturday afternoon and another one this morning. Despite the lack of natural snow the skiing has been very good. We spent yesterday morning at Snowbasin. It was nice to be back on the skis again after a wonderful summer and fall.

Ready for Winter

Warm temperatures are returning to northern Utah this week but the mountains are ready for winter. I hiked the Green Pond trail on Saturday, the last day of the OVBA fall color campaign, and discovered trees void of leaves and the trail paritally covered by snow. On Sunday we traveled to the other side of the mountain and rode our bikes on the Legacy Parkway. There's still some great color at lower elevations so get out and enjoy! See you next year!!!

Time to get ready for skiing and riding in Utah!

My walk three days ago near Middle Inlet on Pineview Reservoir resulted in these photographs. The weather has now turned stormy and we hope the snowpack increases for a Thanksgiving start to ski season. Planned opening dates and events here. See you on the slopes!

Another Day, Another Chute

On a blue bird day like today, there is always a lunch time show above the John Paul Lodge at Snowbasin. All windows and deck tables provide a great view of the chutes between Allen Peak and Mt. Ogden. Hmmm... looks like he had a good line.

Now That's A Lot of Snow!

Sixteen inches at Snowbasin, fourteen inches at Wolf Creek Utah, and ten inches at Powder Mountain by early morning - and I know those numbers DOUBLED during the day. No pictures due to the whiteout conditions (unless someone sends some to me) - but we sure like having the base increase like this to ensure a great long spring skiing and boarding season! Did I mention that is supposed to snow MORE tomorrow? Fun, fun!
