Chris Waddell to Speak at Snowdance and Auction, Snowbasin, 1/14/2012

SAVE THE DATE! Jan. 14, 2012. Snowdance and Auction to benefit The Snowbasin Adaptive Sports Education Foundation  and the OVBA. This year's keynote speaker is Chris Waddell, a Gold and Silver Medalist, and four-time Winter and Summer Olympic Paralympian.

Chris Waddell was a promising young skier at Middlebury College in 1988 when a skiing accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. Determined to get back on the slopes, he began skiing on a monoski roughly one year later. A little more than two years later, Waddell was named to the US Disabled Ski Team. Waddell went on to become the most decorated male skier in Paralympic history, winning twelve medals over four games, and spending a total of 11 years on the US Disabled Ski Team. Read more...

Autumn Starts Tomorrow

On Friday, September 23 at 9:02 Mountain time autumn will arrive in the Ogden Valley! Drove over Trappers Loop yesterday and the maples were starting to burn with fall color. They went from green to brilliant red in just a few days so don't delay your fall color get-a-way! It's time to get out and enjoy 360 degrees of natural adventure.

The Xterra National Championships take place this weekend - swim in Ogden Valley's favorite water, Pineview; bike up Wheeler and Sardine Canyon trails to Snowbasin; and then a trail run up and around Snowbasin. It will be the first off road triathlon for Lance Armstrong since his retirement from road cycling. Athletes will be here from around the world. Snowbasin will have two bbq's and the gondola running so come on out and enjoy all the Ogden Valley has to offer.

Utah Kayaking Soothes the Soul

Nothing like a Monday morning on the water. Pineview Reservoir is virtually a private lake on a weekday in August.  Snowbasin sits patiently in the background - ready for the snow to come just around the corner. Clear your head and sooth your soul with a morning paddle.

Another Day, Another Foot of Light Fluffy Powder in Northern Utah

Bliss

What a great day!  A foot of fluffy stuff fell during the night, and the clouds disappeared for sunshine all morning at Snowbasin. Of course, no one stopped long enough for pictures until the clouds came back (more powder tomorrow!).
