Yummy New Snow for the New Year

A nice storm rumbled in to the Ogden Valley just before the New Year and made for some mighty fine powder skiing. The dump allowed us to venture off piste for some great fun and adventure. The slopes we selected still had some twigs and sticks poking out of the fresh snow fall but everywhere we ventured was excellent. Hopefully Mother Nature will be very kind to us in 2010. Happy New Year!

Looking a lot like Winter!

Sunday was a snowy, snowy day at Snowbasin! Enjoyed a 17-inch snow fall, with more coming down.

Snow, Sweet Snow

It's been really cold here! The good news about the cold temperature - it allows the ski resorts to make lots of really nice snow. Mother Nature is helping a little with a brush by storm on Saturday afternoon and another one this morning. Despite the lack of natural snow the skiing has been very good. We spent yesterday morning at Snowbasin. It was nice to be back on the skis again after a wonderful summer and fall.

Ready for Winter

Warm temperatures are returning to northern Utah this week but the mountains are ready for winter. I hiked the Green Pond trail on Saturday, the last day of the OVBA fall color campaign, and discovered trees void of leaves and the trail paritally covered by snow. On Sunday we traveled to the other side of the mountain and rode our bikes on the Legacy Parkway. There's still some great color at lower elevations so get out and enjoy! See you next year!!!

Time to get ready for skiing and riding in Utah!

My walk three days ago near Middle Inlet on Pineview Reservoir resulted in these photographs. The weather has now turned stormy and we hope the snowpack increases for a Thanksgiving start to ski season. Planned opening dates and events here. See you on the slopes!

Could Not Resist Another Wildflower Hike

We could not resist another walk in the wildflowers at Snowbasin's Middle Cirque. Take quick ride up the gondola for a wonderful mountain top hike. See more photos here.
